By conducting R&D in the past 20 years, we have successfully established production system for industrial cultivation of both algae and processing. The key technology innovation include strain selection, optimization of the culture media, optimization of production technology, and extraction of the natural compounds.

2. Production, Extraction, and Processing technologies for polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Stearidonic acid (SDA) is an unique PUFA with stronger anti-inflammatory property compared to EPA and DHA. It can be easily absorbed by human body without fishy smell. By selecting superior strains, we have established commercial scale production technology for SDA, and we have developed functional food products for combating asthma and PM2.5 induced damages.

3. Cultivation of the marine diatom Haslea ostrearia for production of the Green Gill Oysters.

When Haslea ostrearia is blooming in winter, a blue pigment marennine is biosynthesized by the cells and released to water. The marennine is accumulated in the gills and labial palps of oysters to impart the blue green color.
